Busy, busy!

Well, well, well!! What a busy time I have had lately! Have been super slack at blogging as it's been crazy in my household.  We decided to put our house on the market and buy a new one - as well as expecting a baby at the end of August!! Our house sold, we were due to move into the new place on the 12 September  baby was due 31 August so would have been a couple weeks old by the time moving day came around, but no - things weren't going to go to plan!! Baby decided to be 9 days late, so came on Sunday 9th September, so we moved with a 3 day old!  All good though as hubby had organised the movers to come and do most of the work and my wonderful Mum was around to help unpack - well actually she did most of it while I told her were to put things.  I am still having to ring her up to ask where things are!  Also in between all this hubby has been away with rugby and Mr 2 has been running round like a mad man.  All has worked out well and we are enjoying our new place.

I have been quietly working away as well.  I got my very first client a couple of months before baby was due.  So far so good, we seem to be working well together! So far for her I have done some internet research for her business, updating of  her website, making up a new form and also updating her facebook, twitter and pinterest accounts. I am also really enjoying having something else to focus on other than baby!

I am still on the look out for more clients, so if you are wanting a VA or know of someone who could use one - pass on my details.  With Christmas coming up, they may been needing an extra pair of hands to help out with the small stuff.

Till next time......

Keeping up....

With the blog posts!! I'm keeping to my goal, one week in!  That's got to be a good sign.  I have had a bit of traffic over the last week with people looking at my blog, most of it is probably from me - every time I come back to check it, the numbers have gone up so thank you for the support everyone.

Yesterday a friend asked me if I knew of anyone who designed posters.  I said to her, I can do it!! So last night and today I have been having a play around with publisher making up a poster for her, I thought it would be a good way to showcase some of my work - look out for the post in my next blog.  She is doing a fundraising event on 18 August for BOP @Heart to be held at Ivory Bar at the Mount, will be a cocktail evening with an auction.  Should be a fun evening!! Tickets are $65 and you get a couple of cocktails and nibbles, it's for a good cause and if I wasn't going to nearly ready to have a baby, I would be heading along.  If you are keen to go you can get tickets from Ivory at the Mount.

Well I had better get back to designing this poster!! Till next week......

This is the baking that made it's way into my pantry last week... hubby thought I was pretty awesome when he got home!!

Up and running

Well it's not quite a website, but I have managed to change my blog into my website! Well until 1 Stop VA gets off the ground a bit more, I thought it was better to have a go at having the blog as the website to begin with.

I have been a bit slack lately with this blog - I keep getting distracted with all the baking blogs I am finding! My favourite one at the moment is www.bakingmakesthingsbetter.com!  Oh my goodness such yummy things to make, see distracted again..... make sure you check them out and see what you can make next time you are wanting to get creative in the kitchen!

Next on the VA list is to get some business cards and some flyers printed (must get ink for the printer!!) and get the word out there! And a goal for the next month, to get at least another 2 blog posts done and published, really need to keep up the online presences.

Till next week, I leave you with a thought for the day....

The Internet is your best advertising friend!

Goodness, I have been a bit useless lately with my blog writing!! Busy time of year - weddings, babies, Mr 2 starting daycare.  Should have a lot more time on my hands now seen as he has started going to daycare 2 mornings a week!

Have been doing a lot of reading up on starting up a VA business.  Can be a bit overwhelming with all the information out there but have found some helpful articles with the main things that I need to get started.  Really need to get onto a website, once we have a domain name sorted, I can get some business cards printed and start networking.

One of the main things that has come up a lot while I have been reading, is the need for an online presence.  The internet is such a valuable tool these days and it needs to be used to it's advantage otherwise there is the chance that I could miss out on potential clients  - so far I have got my Facebook page up and running, which is up to 160 "fans" already, have signed up with Linkedin (still finding my way around that one) and of course Twitter and of course my blog.  I am also looking into advertising on certain VA websites.  While I think that the internet is the way to go and the best way to "get out there", I still think the old fashioned way of newspaper ads and advertising elsewhere is also helpful.  So have made up some flyers - which is also a good way to showcase my work - and am going to put these around my local community to see how that goes.  My main focus at the moment is to get a website built and get the word out there that I am available for work and to get the work rolling in!

Monday 19 March 2012

Well... I have finally entered the world of blogging! First post ever and not quite sure what to write about.  I guess a good place would be to tell you a little about myself.

I am a stay at home mum to a 2 year old boy, with another one due in August 2012.  My husband and I have been married a year in May and live in Tauranga, New Zealand.

A few months ago Hubby and I were talking about what I could do from home to keep my hand in the working world, while still staying at home to look after the little ones.  After a lot of thought, came up with a Virtual Assistant business that would mainly focus on 1 man businesses and small businesses who would love a PA but haven't quite got the funds to stretch to hiring one.

Basically 1 Stop VA - Virtual Assistant can help with all the admin tasks that you find annoying!  Typing up minutes, setting up and sending out newsletters to your clients, new business card design, mail merges, PowerPoint Presentations, anything you can think of that a PA would normally do for you.  You email me the files you want done (scanned handwritten copies are fine), I type them up for you, send it back for your ok and then we are all done! I can do as much or as little as you need.  I charge a flat hourly rate and then any time after that.

The beauty of having a Virtual Assistant (VA) is that you don't have to worry about hiring new people then training them up, sick leave, annual leave, on going training and you only pay for the time spent on the task - no hidden extras.

So if you are thinking of trying out a VA, now is the time! Look me up on Facebook or flick me an email 1stopva@hotmail.co.nz - we can work out what you need.
